Puako, Big Island

Our home for a week in Puako, Big Island. Lovely house with 2 bedrooms and a small bathroom. It's nicely updated and everything was supplied to make us feel at home. We were able to cook several meals at the house instead of eating out daily.  The tide pools in the backyard provided us with turtles and sea creatures during low tides and swimming or snorkeling in the warm water during high tides. Of course, living this close to the ocean has its cons as well. Falling asleep to the sounds of waves and winds takes some getting used to. Dead bugs around the sink, ants circling the trash area, flying beetles, several cockroaches and lizards came with the house. Plus, the platform beds let out a grunt every time one of  us turned in the bed, making for a few restless nights.

Long stretches of beach at low tides. Great for walks and exploration without any disturbances.

One of the 6 turtles that we saw by the tide pools behind the house. Taking their time feeding, swimming and basking in the sun.

Wonderful patio for BBQ lunches and dinners. Can't beat the ocean views.
Angelfish shot from above the water surface.

A sea cucumber

                                                          Growing sea coral
                                                             Another sea coral
Bigger sea coral providing food and shelter to little fishes.
One of the many sea urchins. Thank goodness for water shoes.
Can't tell whether this was a sea coral or another sea urchin cohabitating with other living creatures.

View of Maui island in the distance.

Turtle lazing in the sun- vacation every day.

                                              Hawaiian sunset from the backyard.
