Ensenada and San Diego

Fishing on a boat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with pouring rain. Wet and cold. That's how we spent the end of the year 2012 in Ensenada, Mexico. Lucky to catch some fish in the company of schools of dolphins close by. Jumping in and out of the water playing alongside our boat the whole time. It was a sight to remember and made me felt we were imposing on their natural habitat. Unfortunately, my photography skills were not up to par with their playfulness. Thus, no dolphins pictures.

Variety of rock fish and ling cod caught.
Rock fish, ling cod, sheephead- our harvest of the day

Circular pens for commercial tuna rearing along the Ensenada coast.

I, for one never knew that the Pacific Coast on the Baja Peninsula could be this beautiful. Blue sky, fresh air and crystal clear blue water.

First time visiting La Bufadora, the famous Ensenada's blowhole, even though we've been to Ensenada quite a few times. Lovely, but not a must visit as compared to the one in Kauai.

Spear man with his catch near La Bufadora

Desert rose by the ocean

Grilled giant clams with a little hot sauce and a squeeze of lime. Wash it down with coconut juice. Very refreshing.

Mouth watering tacos al pastor on Hwy 1 past the La Bufadora junction. It's pork grilled on a vertical spit with pineapple slices on top. Shave some on a tortilla, add on a little cilantro and onions, squeeze some lime on top and it's good to go. One is not enough!

The best tacos al pastor. Very addictive at $1 USD a piece.

San Diego Bay skyline- view from our hotel. Stayed here for New Year's eve on the way back from Ensenada.

Bay bridge to Coronado Island. Beautiful place to be on the 1st day of 2013.

New year's eve dinner at Roy's Fusion. Oyster appetizer- so,so.
Seared sea scallops- tender and flavorful

Best of the night- chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream.
